Gifted and Talented a Huge Success

KS3 students were involved in a Gifted and Talented DT, Maths and Art day on March 3rd. 12 teams with a mix of Y7 , Y8 and Y9 students, led by Y12 Team Leaders, took on the challenge of creating 'The Perfect Learning Environment'.

They presented their work as a portfolio or as a Powerpoint. The main focus of the day was to develop their reflective and independent learning skills whilst at the same time having to work as a team, show good communication skills and organisation.

The work was creative and imaginative and 'cutting edge' with the students choosing many resources which showed futuristic technology. An Awards ceremony was held on the Friday evening to showcase the work , with students presenting to parents and staff on their decision making for their learning environment.

The winning team of Eve Radford, Jamie Griffiths, Charlotte Moore, Harry Jones, Oliver Peake and Katie Machale will be involved in the process of creating a new 'innovation zone' in the school.

Careers Fair 2009

On the evening of Tuesday 3rd November 2009 the Streetly School held a very successful Careers Fair for years 10, 11, 12 and 13 students. There were 30 exhibitors promoting an extremely wide and varied range of post 16 possibilities.

The high number of parents and students who attended was very pleasing and their comments, together with those of the exhibitors, have been most complimentary.

Plans for the Careers Fair next year, on 3rd November 2010, are already being formulated.

Welcome to The Streetly School, an 11 – 18 Sports College in the heart of the community.

In 2009, The Streetly School achieved outstanding results, making it the highest achieving non-selective school in the Walsall Borough in terms of the national standard of 5 A*-C including English and Maths (64%). This made us the 77th most improved school in the country.

Not only are we proud of our results, we are equally proud of our well-mannered, helpful, and well-presented students. We believe in developing the all-round individual, who takes ownership of their behaviour, learning, and achievement. We have an extensive Duke of Edinburgh Awards scheme, Sports Leaders programmes and a highly effective School Council whose views are sought on everything from senior staff appointments to improvements in teaching and learning.

Our attractive site boasts superb facilities, particularly in the area of sport specialism, with a full-size synthetic turf pitch, 4 court sports hall, gym and fitness area, dance studio, and swimming pool.

We are particularly proud of the contribution our Sixth Form Students make to the life of the school. Our recent Ofsted inspection praised the commitment of Sixth Form students to the school community.

I hope that you find the information on this website of interest and that it gives you a flavour of life at The Streetly School. We welcome a visit at any time, so please make the time to come in and see our school at work.

Mr. B. Downie
