At the Streetly School we have a caring staff who are committed to providing equal opportunities through both social and academic inclusion for all of our students.
Transition:
We have a SENCO and a team of staff who support students with:
- Specific learning difficulties
- Emotional behavioural problems
- Physical disabilities
They visit partner schools during the summer term.
Support:
Support strategies include:
- Classroom support
- Withdrawal of individuals and small groups
- Reading recovery groups
- Successmaker programmes
- Lunch-time 'drop-in' sessions
Access:
The school has:
- an SEN area with its own computer facilities
- wheelchair access to over 85% of classrooms
- two buildings with lifts
- new toilets for the disabled, one with a shower and ceiling track hoists
- a medical room with a hoist and disabled access
- a hoist in the pool area and an adjustable drying table in male/female changing rooms
We are implementing the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice and associated guidelines.
